Learn how to help your garden birds
The RSPB recently released important new guidelines on safely feeding garden birds, and it may have left you feeling unsure about the right thing to do, or concerned that you will no longer be able to enjoy the birds in the garden.
We are hosting this live 'pay what you can' Q&A to reassure you that you absolutely can continue to enjoy the birds in your garden! Our team of experts will answer all your questions and show you how to support your garden birds in a safe and more natural way.
You'll learn:
- The dos and don'ts of supplementary bird feeding
- What to plant to provide natural food for birds like seeds and berries
- How to identify which plants you already have that could support birds if left to go to seed
- How to provide for invertebrates to support birds and their chicks

Ellie is a professional wildlife gardener in Nottingham and a passionate advocate for native plants and the wildlife they support. She's a key member of the Wildlife Garden Project team, co-hosted the Wildlife Garden Podcast, writes for Plantlife’s members’ magazine, and volunteers with Wild.NG.

Helen (aka @helenlikesplants) is on a mission to get everyone gardening for nature. Known for her practical, beginner-friendly advice, she believes gardening can change the world by connecting people with nature and each other. Helen is also an RHS Trustee and active in several nature-based charities.

Linda is a professional entomologist and science communicator with a love for all things that buzz, crawl and scuttle. She specialises in urban biodiversity and citizen science, empowering communities to explore and protect the insects that keep our ecosystems thriving.

Tom is a director of the Wildlife Garden Project and is a self-confessed bird and moth enthusiast. When he’s not working in agriculture, he’s running moth traps across Nottinghamshire or monitoring garden birds and local owl populations as a licensed bird ringer.

Louise works in the wildlife charity sector, and manages data for a living. Having given huge amounts of voluntary time to local bird and butterfly charities, her non-work time is now usually out birding, spotting other wildlife, peering into a moth trap or riding a bike. Or managing an ancient woodland as a volunteer warden for the wildlife trust.
