What you'll learn
In this online talk, Ellie will show you how having a plan for your wildlife garden can save you time and money, while helping you to make your garden the best it can possibly be for wildlife. You will learn how to:
● Undertake a survey of your space to fully understand what’s already thriving there
● Make a scale drawing of your garden to enable you to get creative
● See the vast opportunities that exist to create habitat, grow food and provide water for wildlife
● Avoid the common errors that are often made in garden and planting schemes
● Use careful choice of planting to help nature thrive
● Balance beauty, practicality, and biodiversity so your garden works for nature and you
By the end of the session, you’ll feel inspired and equipped with the confidence and knowledge to plan your own thriving wildlife garden.

Meet your host, Ellie
Ellie Mitchell is a professional wildlife gardener based in Nottingham who designs beautiful, nature-friendly spaces that help biodiversity thrive. Her love of plants and wildlife led her to co-host The Wildlife Garden Podcast, write for Plantlife’s members’ magazine, and play an active role in the Wildlife Garden Project team. She also volunteers with Wild.NG as well as Hedgepigs, where she cares for sick and underweight hedgehogs.
Through this masterclass, Ellie will share the insights and techniques she’s learned from years of real-world experience, helping you design a garden that not only looks beautiful but truly supports the wildlife around you.

Nope! The session is perfect for beginners and experienced gardeners alike. Ellie will guide you step by step through the process of designing your own wildlife garden.
The live session will last around 90 minutes, including time for questions at the end.
Not at all! Ellie’s own garden is a small “yarden,” so she knows exactly how to make the most of limited space. Throughout the masterclass, she’ll demonstrate techniques and share ideas that work in any size garden, from tiny yards to large plots. You’ll leave with practical ways to make your space more wildlife-friendly, whatever its size.
